When I think about the core value of Pursuing Growth, one person comes to mind immediately: Coach Kayvon Imanverdi. His story is an inspiring journey of personal transformation and leadership, showing how commitment to growth can create extraordinary outcomes.
Coach Kayvon began his martial arts journey with us at just four years old, inspired by his family’s connection to the sport. As a child, he was shy and reserved, hesitant to step out of his comfort zone. But as he trained at Kung Fu Kids, he began to embrace challenges, discovering a confidence and drive that would shape his future.
Over the years, Coach Kayvon achieved remarkable milestones. He became a Wushu champion, earning accolades in competitions through his incredible dedication and work ethic. Today, he is not only an accomplished martial artist but also the Head Instructor of our Kung Fu Kids location in Pleasanton, a role he stepped into with grace and determination.
Stepping into leadership wasn’t an easy path for Coach Kayvon—it required courage, resilience, and a willingness to continually push his limits. He took on this responsibility as a young adult, managing a thriving academy while inspiring students and families every day. Watching him teach, you can see the joy and passion he brings to each lesson. His ability to connect with students of all ages—whether it’s calming a nervous beginner or challenging an advanced student—reflects his empathy and skill as an instructor.
Coach Kayvon is also an incredible role model. His daily meditation practice, his commitment to bettering himself, and his drive to grow as a leader are evident in everything he does. He embodies the idea that growth isn’t just about advancing in rank or winning competitions—it’s about becoming the best version of yourself and helping others do the same.
His mom, Laleh, shared a sentiment that captures his spirit perfectly: “Kayvon doesn’t aim to compete with others—he strives to be better than he was the day before.” That mindset has not only made him an exceptional coach but also a beloved mentor to our students.
