When I think back to the very beginning of Kung Fu Kids, there’s one person who stands out: Alex Wong, my very first student. Without Alex, Kung Fu Kids might never have become what it is today.

Alex came to me with a love of martial arts, inspired by my brother and their shared fascination with kung fu movies. One day, he knocked on my front door and asked if I would teach him. We started with lessons in my living room, weaving around furniture as we practiced. From there, he joined me on an incredible journey—transforming my garage into a studio and helping me lay the foundation for what would become Kung Fu Kids.

Alex’s dedication to martial arts carried him through those early days of tough training and soreness. It also shaped who he became: an acclaimed musical composer for Netflix and other major productions. Alex attributes much of his success to the discipline, creativity, and teamwork he cultivated during his time at Kung Fu Kids.

In his words, “Wushu taught me the importance of honing my craft, just like practicing music. It instilled the discipline to keep going, even when things were tough.”

Today, Alex is living his dream, composing music for Netflix shows like Green Door and inspiring others with his story. His success reflects the values we aim to instill in every student who walks through our doors: resilience, grit, and a passion for pursuing greatness.

I’m incredibly proud of Alex and the role Kung Fu Kids played in his journey. His story is proof that the lessons we teach extend far beyond martial arts—they create a foundation for lifelong success.
