Today, I want to share the story of Francis Chau, a former student whose journey reflects the transformative power of martial arts.
Francis joined Kung Fu Kids after being inspired by a Jet Li movie. Like many of our students, he came looking for a challenge. What he found was so much more. Starting at age 30, Francis didn’t just train—he embraced the journey, earning multiple black belt degrees and becoming a role model for his peers.
I remember Francis telling me the physical challenges were tough, but the mental growth was where he truly thrived. Martial arts taught him patience, resilience, and the ability to manage emotions under pressure—skills he carried into the business world.
Francis now owns and operates two successful businesses in San Jose: a John Casablancas modeling school and a Paul Mitchell cosmetology school. He credits his martial arts training for helping him build the discipline and leadership skills needed to run not one but two thriving enterprises.
What I admire most about Francis is his commitment to learning and growth. He often says, “Wushu mirrors life—every challenge is an opportunity to improve, adapt, and persevere.”
