At Kung Fu Kids, we believe that martial arts isn’t just about punches, kicks, or competition—it’s about building character, leadership, and resilience. And no one embodies that better than Coach Kyle.
Coach Kyle is a scholar, an accomplished black belt and a high-level chess competitor. Yet, despite all his accolades, he’s best known for something far more profound: his ability to create harmony in any situation.
Let me share a story that perfectly illustrates this.
One day, a parent approached Coach Kyle after class with a complaint. Their tone was sharp, frustration evident in every word. While most people would feel defensive or uneasy in that moment, Coach Kyle did something extraordinary.
He smiled warmly and responded with genuine gratitude:
“Thank you so much for sharing this with me. It means a lot that you took the time to tell me your thoughts. I truly appreciate how much you care about your child’s experience here, and I’m grateful for your feedback because it gives me an opportunity to improve.”
The parent paused, visibly taken aback by his calm and appreciative response. Their frustration melted away, replaced with an almost sheepish smile.
Coach Kyle then asked thoughtful questions to better understand the issue, actively listened, and reassured the parent that their concerns would be addressed. By the end of the conversation, the parent wasn’t just placated—they were grateful, too.
Coach Kyle’s approach was a masterclass in creating harmony. By leading with gratitude and empathy, he transformed what could have been a tense interaction into a positive and constructive exchange.
This is what sets Coach Kyle apart. Whether he’s on the mat teaching students, competing in tournaments, or strategizing in chess, he carries this unwavering sense of balance and perspective.
He reminds us all that harmony isn’t about avoiding challenges—it’s about responding to them with grace, understanding, and a commitment to positivity.
At Kung Fu Kids, we’re proud to have role models like Coach Kyle, who show our students every day how to live by our core values both inside and outside the academy.
If you want your child to learn more than martial arts—to grow into a confident, respectful, and empathetic leader—we’d love to have you join our community.
