A Life Built on Dependability

Dependability is one of those qualities that doesn’t always get the spotlight it deserves, but at Kung Fu Kids, it’s a core value that we live by. And no one embodies it better than Coach Tan, our Head Instructor in San Jose.

Coach Tan’s reliability is unparalleled. In all the years he’s been with us, I can count on one hand the number of times he’s called in sick—and only because he was truly, undeniably ill. He’s never late, always showing up early to prepare for the day, often enjoying breakfast at the studio before his work begins.

But his dependability doesn’t stop at the studio doors. At home, Coach Tan is the rock of his family. When a close family member was battling illness, he stepped up to handle household responsibilities like cooking and cleaning, so his mother could focus on caregiving. His ability to balance these commitments, both personal and professional, speaks volumes about his character.

Dependability isn’t just about being on time or showing up—it’s about being someone others can count on, no matter what. Coach Tan shows our students that being reliable builds trust and creates stability in their lives, whether it’s at school, at home, or in their future careers.

I’m proud to have Coach Tan as a part of our team, and even prouder that our students get to learn from someone who lives and breathes this important value.
